Set up your website with Weebly

Whether you need a personal blog, or a business site with members and an online store, the Weebly editor makes it easy to create and manage a highly customizable website so you can start having your first visits right away.

Choose the type of website

The first step is to choose the kind of website you're creating. Select the option I just need a website to create a simple site with limited eCommerce options: professional and personal websites, portfolios and blogs are in this category. If you need a website to sell online, select the option I need a website with an online store.

Note: This action is irreversible once you complete onboarding and start editing your website.

Choose a Theme

If you choose I just need a website, the first step is to choose a theme. A theme is a combination of the code, colors, and general structure that will become the foundation of your website's appearance.

Simply put, a theme is to a website what clothing is to a person - you can personalize the appearance to express your own style and easily change to a different look whenever you want. All Weebly themes are responsive, which means they'll automatically adapt to the best fit for any screen size, so you can be sure your site will look great on mobile devices and computers.

Themes in the gallery are grouped by different types of websites, and you can switch between them using the links at the top. It's worth looking through all of the categories to see the full set of choices - any theme can be used to build any type of website, so go ahead and choose one from the Blog category for your online store if you see one you like! Not sure which theme to choose? No problem - you can always pick a new one later, so for now just find one to get started with.

Click on the theme image to see a larger preview. If you like the way it looks, click Start Editing to go into the site editor. Changed your mind? Click on Close (X) to return to the theme gallery.

Site Address

Once you've selected a theme, you'll be prompted to choose your site address. If you have something in mind, you can type it in and then click Search to see if it's available. If you're not sure what to pick, you can use the X in the upper right to close the window for now. You can come back to this step at any time by going to the Settings tab.

Online Store

If you chose the option I need a website with an online store, you will be asked a series of questions, including the name of your online store, the types of items you will be selling online, your store address and more. Once you answer the questions about your online store, you will be taken to your Square Online Overview page to customize it. Learn how to Set up your website for details.
