Square Launches Code Camp Contest for Women Engineering Students

Winners will participate in a three day startup immersion and mentorship program at Square’s San Francisco headquarters

SAN FRANCISCO – October 2, 2012– Square, the company simplifying commerce for everyone, announced today the launch of its first annual Code Camp Contest. In an effort to invest in, develop and inspire women in technology, the company is hosting a three day, expense-paid immersion program at Square’s San Francisco headquarters called Code Camp. Students can submit a resume and essays about why they would like to be a part of the program online at https://squareup.com/form/code-camp. Fifteen winners will be selected to participate.

“There are so many talented women across the country looking to develop their technical skills, meet new people with common interests and gain valuable startup experience,” said Jude Komuves, Vice President of People at Square. “Code Camp will be an amazing place to start. We are thrilled to kick off this program and to share our passion for engineering and designing beautiful products to revolutionize commerce.”

The three-day program will include conversations and mentorship sessions with Square leaders, hands-on workshops with teams from across the company, Q&A sessions, as well as tours around the beautiful and historic Bay Area.

Contest winners will be flown to San Francisco and provided accommodations during their stay.
