With the Square app, the email address or phone number you enter to receive digital receipts is linked to the payment card used for that transaction.

Customer Payment Information and Receipts

You may notice that a portion of your email address or mobile phone number auto-populates in the receipt field after paying. After you choose to receive a receipt via email or text message, our system securely links the entered email address or phone number to your payment card.

If you enter an email address, we’ll automatically send subsequent receipts to the address specified. If you enter a phone number, we’ll pre-populate this number on the receipt screen during each payment so you can elect to receive the receipt at that number or update your phone number. The next time you pay at Square merchant location, checkout is much faster.

Receipts Received in Error

If you receive an automatic receipt detailing a transaction you do not recognise, click “Not Your Receipt?” at the bottom of the Square receipt or contact us.
