Square’s Language Options

If you’ve created a Canadian Square account, you have the option to use Square Point of Sale in English or French.

You can adjust the language settings on your mobile device or from your online Square Dashboard to switch between English and French anytime. Square’s Support Centre is also available in both languages. Click the flag at the bottom of the page to switch between French and English.

Note: At this time, when your mobile device is set to French, Square Point of Sale will be in French – all customer-facing screens, including receipts, will remain in English.

Dashboard

You can also control your customer communication language right from your Square Dashboard. To choose the language:

  1. Visit your Account & Settings, select Personal Information.

  2. Scroll down to Preferences.

  3. Select the desired language from the dropdown and click Save.

Register

If you are using a Square Register, you can control your language preferences directly from your device. To update your Square Register language:

  1. Tap More from the navigation bar at the bottom of your screen.

  2. Tap Settings > Hardware > General.

  3. Select Language and select the language of your choice.

Please note: The language for emailed receipts is based on your account’s language preferences. For text receipts, it will display in your browser’s language preference.

Terminal

If you are using a Square Terminal, you can control your language preferences directly from your device. To update your Square Terminal language:

  1. Tap More from the navigation bar at the bottom of your screen.

  2. Tap Settings > Hardware > General.

  3. Select Language and select the language of your choice.
