Apply Rewards to Purchases

You can redeem rewards from the Square app by searching for your customer’s name, email address or phone number, or by entering their reward code. Be sure you’re using the most updated version of the Square app to access this feature.

Apply to a current sale

From the Square Point of Sale app:

  1. Tap Library on the top of your Checkout screen.

  2. Tap Rewards.

  3. Enter your customer’s name or phone number to search for available rewards or tap Use Code.

  4. Select rewards to apply to your customer’s cart. Multiple rewards of different types can be applied at the same time. For example, you can apply a reward for a percentage, and additionally a reward for a dollar amount on a single sale. If only one reward is available, that reward will automatically be applied. A single reward cannot be applied to more than one sale, even if the full reward is not redeemed.

  5. Redeem a specific reward by tapping Redeem.

  6. Complete sale through Point of Sale. You’ll see the reward applied on the transaction.

Note: A punch card needs to be completed in order for the reward to be searchable in the Square app. If rewards are unavailable, No Matches Found will appear.

You can also view or remove rewards applied to a sale from the app’s payment screen. To do so, tap Discounts from your current sale to show the applied rewards and/or to remove them from the sale.

Apply after adding a customer to a sale

If you’ve added a customer to the sale, tap on View Customer to see their profile. Scroll down to the section titled Vouchers, and tap ‘Apply to Sale’ for any vouchers you’d like to apply to the customer’s transaction.

You can also view or remove vouchers currently applied to a sale from the app’s payment screen. To do so, tap Discounts under the list of items in your cart to show the applied voucher(s) and/or to remove them from the sale.

Redeem Loyalty Rewards

In the case that your customer has enough points to redeem a reward, Reward Available will be prompted on the current sale before finalising the transaction. You can add the reward to the current sale by tapping Reward Available and selecting the reward you would like to apply.

Customers with available rewards paying with a card linked to their Square Loyalty account will see a reward redemption screen at checkout that allows them to select from their available rewards and apply them to their transactions.

Important to note

  • If the customer is paying with a new card, this screen will not show up and their available rewards can be redeemed by tapping Rewards from the Item Library.

  • The ability to disable the voucher/reward redemption screen is not yet available.

Manage Reward Redemption

You can disable the voucher redemption screen from your Square Point of Sale app. To do so:

  1. Go to ≡ More > Settings.

  2. Tap Loyalty > Toggle off Card-linked reward redemption.

From Square Register:

  1. Tap More > Settings.

  2. Select Loyalty

  3. Toggle on Show check-in screen at start of transaction. Ensure that the Enable Loyalty option is toggled on in order to update the settings on your device.

Your customers will no longer see the reward redemption screen.
