Toronto, October 18, 2017 - This week Square is opening its first pop-up in Canada, Square Shop, in the middle of Toronto’s trendiest shopping street — Queen Street West. They’re bringing their most popular offerings to eat, drink and purchase for five special days starting today.

The Square team is at the shop ready to speak about simple tools for businesses, including the newest contactless and chip reader, and offer the opportunity to experience firsthand the range of Square products and services that help sellers of all sizes start, run and grow their business.

In addition, Square is hosting a series of workshops at the shop for local business owners. Workshops are free to attend and run weekdays this week from 1 to 3 p.m.. Highlights include:
* Wednesday, October 18, at 1:30 p.m.: Chef Matt Basile, creator of the Toronto-based street-food brand Fidel Gastro’s, shares his learnings from building his food business.
* Thursday, October 19, at 2:30 p.m.: David King, general manager of thisopenspace, highlights strategies and stories to go from selling online to offline.
* Friday, October 20, at 2:30 p.m.: Stephen Shannon, owner of Matcha Ninja, offers pro tips for turning your side hustle into a full-time gig.

The Square Shop is located at 202 Queen Street West and is open October 18–22 — today’s hours are 12–7 p.m. and from Thursday, October 19 to Sunday, October 22, the shop hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Full shop details and workshops are listed here.

Individuals and business owners that stop by and purchase the newest reader (retail price of $59) will get $10 off. Square is also waiving transaction fees on Interac Flash contactless payments for all new and existing Square sellers through the end of 2017.
