Small business owners from all around Australia are making the most of Square Point of Sale to help better run, understand and manage their business. To help you get the most out of every feature, we’ll be regularly posting our best tips and tricks.
1. You can process transactions even when you’re offline
Offline Mode means you can record cash payments with Square Point of Sale even when you’re not connected to the Internet. Transactions recorded offline sync with your Square account once your device regains connectivity, which means that your reports on your Square Dashboard will also update to reflect your most recent transactions. Don’t forget that to log in to your Square account on the Point of Sale app, you need to be connected to the Internet — so make sure you log in before you leave home if you’re planning on using Offline Mode during the day.
2. Partial Refunds
3. Tracking GST
Square Point of Sale applies Goods and Services Tax (GST) to your sales, so you can include this in your item prices if your business is registered for GST. Enable GST on your Square Dashboard or directly from Square Point of Sale.
4. Going Paperless
If you’re a mobile business, food truck, or market trader, you probably know what a hassle receipt printers can be. Take advantage of Square Point of Sale’s email and SMS receipt feature to send your customers a receipt they can access online, customised with your business name, logo, ABN and links to social media. Lachlan from Clement Coffee in South Melbourne loves being able to email receipts to his customers, telling us that “…they encourage dialogue between customers and my business post transaction.” Best of all — it’s completely free. If you’re running your point of sale in Offline Mode, your email and SMS receipts are stored locally and sent to your customers as soon as connectivity is restored.
5. Keep your Square Point of Sale app up to date
We’re always adding new features to Square Point of Sale to help you run your business, so check in at the App Store or Google Play regularly to see if there’s an update available.
