It’s been an exciting month for Square in Australia. A feature that we have been working hard to launch has finally arrived — you can now process eftpos chip cards with Square Reader for contactless and chip — more on that below.
We have also made some great improvements to some of our existing products to help you start, run and grow your business. Here’s the latest.
Accept eftpos with Square
We work hard to ensure that you can accept every way your customers want to pay using Square, so bringing eftpos acceptance to Australia has been one of our top priorities. The good news? You can now accept all eftpos chip cards using our Square Reader for contactless and chip.

Square Gift Cards holiday-themed packs are now available
Holiday-themed physical gift cards are here. Get your business ready for the holiday rush, and offer plastic gift cards at your business. Choose from 10 different holiday designs that can be reused for store credit.
Seasonal spending
Ahead of the Christmas rush we crunched the numbers to find out when Australians are doing their festive shopping — and the numbers might surprise you. From the busiest shopping day of the year (which is actually in November) to which industries get the biggest boost in the run up to the holidays.
Default settings added to Square Invoices
Save time whenever you create an invoice with new default settings. You can now set your preferences for invoice reminders, due dates, messages, and more in your online Dashboard. They’ll be applied to all new invoices created on mobile or the web.
