Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or enhance facial contours. While dermal fillers are casually known as “wrinkle fillers,” they can do much more than just smooth out wrinkles, although they are excellent at this too! Here are a few of the common issues dermal fillers can help address:

• Smooth out lines around nose and mouth (a.k.a. marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses)

Botox/Dysport/Xeomin (tox) treatment for wrinkles is an injection treatment designed to reduce facial expression lines by enabling the muscles to relax. On the face, tox works best for "dynamic" lines (lines that are visible when making expressions, aka "crows feet" or the dreaded vertical creases between the brows "angry lines" when squeezing the brows together). Tox for hand and underarm sweating ("hyperhidrosis") is an injection treatment in the axilla or palm of hands causing the sweat glands to cease working in the injected area. There are many areas on the face that tox can treat and you'll be able to discuss those areas with your provider at your appointment.

Tox treatment is temporary, meaning it will have to be repeated on a regular basis to remain effective. An average response is 2 - 5 months of diminished muscle contraction. After a Botox/Dysport/Xeomin injection, the effect gradually begins over several days and full effect may not be seen until 14 days post-injection.

A lip flip is a simple, quick procedure that uses Botox/Dysport or Xeomin (tox) to enhance the appearance of your lips, specifically your top lip. A good candidate for a lip flip is anyone who wants the illusion of fuller, poutier lips without fillers.
