Dermaplaning with Facial
Dermaplaning is an effective and safe exfoliation procedure that uses a sterile surgical scalpel to gently "shave" the surface of the skin, removing the top most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). Benefits of Dermaplaning include: deeper product penetration, removal of soft facial hair that traps dirt and oils, promotion of smoother skin, reduction in the appearance of acne scars, and diminishes the appearance of fine lines. This procedure is suitable for all skin types and provides instant results with no downtime.
Chemical Peel, Superficial
Superficial chemical peel utilizing glycolic (30%), mandelic (40%) or salicylic acid (30%).
Glycolic acid is a naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy-acid (AHA) derived from natural sources. Glycolic acid penetrates skin cell walls, triggering the formation of collagen and the production of glycosaminoglycans which help to improve texture, reduce discoloration and soften fine lines.
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid which is effective in the treatment of acne.
Mandelic acid is a type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) similar to glycolic acid and lactic acid. Mandelic acid has antibacterial qualities which makes it helpful for those with acne-prone skin. Mandelic acid is more gentle than other chemical peels and is safe to use on people with Rosacea or darker skin tones. In addition, the downtime is significantly less with Mandelic acid so these peels produce a nice “glow” for special events!
Recommended: Series of 4-5 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart.
Chemical Peel, Mid-Level or Specialty
Glycolic Acid 50% OR Glycolic Acid 70% OR Modified Jessners OR 50% Pyruvic Acid Chemical Peel.
Botox and Dysport
Botox and Dysport are made from a purified protein which temporarily relaxes the facial muscles responsible for certain fine lines and wrinkles that are caused by repetitive movements like squinting. Once the muscles are relaxed, wrinkles gradually fade or disappear completely. Botox and Dysport are safe, painless, and fast-acting. The results are naturally beautiful. Microneedling with FDA-approved Skin Pen Precision
SkinPen by Bellus Medical is the only microneedling device in the world cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, clinically proven to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars for ages 22 and up. Microneedling can encourage your skin to produce new collagen and elastin, which can improve the smoothness and plumpness of the skin. Microneedling rejuvenates by using tiny needles to puncture the top layer of your skin, triggering collagen and elastin production. At Bardstown Dermatology Aesthetics, we combine FDA approved microneedling with Skinfuse. While microneedling alone triggers the growth factors and signaling molecules proven to increase cell to cell communication, Skinfuse provides the essential skin cell nutritional requirements to optimize this process of restoring healthy cell function, while omitting ingredients proven to hinder this process.
Chemical Peel, Medium Depth / Pigment Peel
TCA 25% chemical peel.
Trichloroacetic acid is a medium depth peel. TCA penetrates deeper than superficial peels and results in a longer “down time” than superficial peels. Healing typically takes between 3-7 days. TCA peels work well for sunspots, pigmentation, fine lines, actinic keratoses, and skin texture changes. These peels can be repeated every two to three months as needed.
